The Omega Man (1971) / music by Ron Grainer

As a companion to the earlier posting of the score to the Heston classic Soylent Green, here is Ron Grainer's score to The Omega Man.

While Heston's presence always ensures a certain entertainment value, I actually prefer the version of the source material (the book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson) that starred Vincent Price entitled Last Man On Earth; it was much creepier and more atmospheric than this Heston flick.

Outstanding soundtrack!. It's crazy that this isn't around except for the ultra-high ebay seller on occasion. Thanks for the posting!

I wanna thank you for this soundtrack! For about 10 years I searched for this in my country, and nothing, zit, nada! I only found at e-bay, but US350,00, plus sending and custuns tax (here in Brazil, custuns overtax it's 60% os the final price >_<) it's to much. So, don't bother with these lame e-bay vendor who want's to make profit with a out of print Cd. So once again, thank you so much!

Thank you for sharing and not keeping this all to yourself. Some people think that rare should stay that way but sharing is what these blogs are all about. I hope you inspire more people to up some of their own treasures and share them with the rest of the world.

Jeers to all those who want this to remain obscure, just to justify the fact that they paid stupid amounts of money for it on eBay. You are way more cool than the kids who don't want to share just so they can feel special. Hoarding is evil - whether you are one of the kids who own the ultra-rare whatsit or the bastard record companies who create the frenzy.

Kudos to you, sir!
